At the 'T' junction, we turned right onto May lane, and after a short walk, there is a public footpath sign on the left, which puts you onto a track opposite, that passes the grounds of a private residence, before taking you back down to the kissing gate into the field. Again, after nearly a mile, we left the trail at Walmsley Bridge, turning right onto Walmsley Bridge Lane (however you can cross the road at this point and continue along the river), Walking uphill (quite steep) for about 1/2 mile. It is easier walking if you stay close to the fence, as cattle have trampled the rest of the field, and in places it is quite boggy. You then come to a kissing gate, which takes you onto a public footpath, were you again follow the river, but this time, behind a fence. The route leaves Fulwood leisure centre via the Guild Wheel and makes its way out through Broughton and Inglewhite before crossing Winsnape Brook at. ![]() The path is solid under foot, with only traces of mud, but stout footwear is preferential.
